Steinhart California Coast
Spectacular Multi-Level Underwater Ecosystems
This 100,000-gallon tank at the Steinhart Aquarium replicates quiet salt marshes to
turbulent rocky inlets. A crucial
part to the California Coast exhibit is the multiple level viewing areas. You can stroll the surface walkway to
smell the
seawater and then head below to see what lives in the sanctuary's strong, nutrient-rich ocean currents.
A mixture of W2KS Kessil Amazon Sun and Tuna Light Blue spectrums were chosen to mimic natural sunlight while
the tight
beam angle provides the optimal levels of light for the living ecosystem below the surface, without spilling
light onto
the pedestrian walkways. The combination of superior color rendering with a single point light source makes the
W2K the
perfect solution for the demanding and varying depths of this exhibit.
