Point Defiance Tropical Reef

Discover the Outer Reef and Blue Hole at Point Defiance Zoo. This exhibit offers guests an up-close encounter with six species of sharks, all surrounded by vibrant tropical fish and a charismatic potato grouper.

The Outer Reef exhibit creates the illusion of an endless ocean, highlighted with pops of color to draw guest attention to certain points in the rockwork. The W500BD and full color P3X units accomplished this by providing bright, but controlled, lighting exactly where it was needed to highlight the natural beauty of the exhibit and animals.

At the far side of an exhibit, guests can marvel at the 18’ deep Blue Hole, a representation of deep dark caverns inhabited by tropical marine reef fishes and invertebrates. The high powered W500BD provides the lighting for this with a single unit - making the installation and control smooth and easy for the biologists.
