Connection

Step 1
Download App

  • Android Operating System 4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich) or above is recommended.

  • Open "Google Play Store". Search for and download "Kessil AP700 Controller App".

  • If you have Battery Saver Mode / Power Saving Mode turned on, please turn it off while using the app. This will increase the connection stability.

Step 2
Enable AP700 WiFi

  • Make sure the AP700 is connected to a wall outlet through power adapter.

  • Touch the power button ( ) to turn on the AP700.

  • Press and simultaneously to turn on WiFi. The WiFi indicator will flash with blue light.

  • Open "Kessil WiFi Controller for Phone" on the phone.



Step 3
Sign In & Connect Lamp

  • Select one of the links to sign in with the social media accounts or skip the process. By continuing, you accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

  • Select "Connect Direct" or "Use Wireless Router" on the App to remotely control the AP700(s). "Connect Direct" is recommended.

Connect Direct to AP700

Wireless router is not necessary. Cannot use WiFi network or cellular data

  • Follow the animation instructions on the app and press "Next".

  • Exit the app and access phone "Settings > WiFi" to connect to Kessil WiFi SSID.

    WiFi SSID : Kessil_KDxxxxxxxx

    (WiFi SSID Label can be found on AP700)
    * Make sure there is a WiFi fan signal at top right corner.
    Go back to the app and press next.

  • Create a password for the selected lamp, then press next.

  • If only connecting one AP700, press "Done" to finish the setup. If connecting more than one AP700, press "Set Another AP700".

    • Repeat 1. and 2.

    • Press "Done" if you have connected all AP700s. If you have more to add, press "Set Another AP700" and repeat the steps.

  • Exit the app and open phone "Settings > WiFi". Connect the first AP700 and enter the password. (* Make sure there is a WiFi fan signal at top right corner.) Return to app and press "Done".

  • Wait for around 30 seconds to load data. Additional lamps may require more time.

  • AP700s will appear in "Default Group" list after the setting. If they do not appear on the list, press refresh button ( ) at top right corner to search for the lamps.

Use Wireless Router

Phone can connect to internet and control AP700 at the same time.

  • Follow the animation instructions on the app and press "Next".

  • Exit the app and access phone "Settings > WiFi" to connect to Kessil WiFi SSID.

    WiFi SSID : Kessil_KDxxxxxxxx

    (WiFi SSID Label can be found on AP700)
    * Make sure there is a WiFi fan signal at top right corner.
    Go back to the app and press next.

  • Select WiFi Network (Household/Store) and enter password. Press "Next".

  • If only connecting one AP700, press "Done" to finish the setup. If connecting more than one AP700, press "Set Another AP700".

    • Repeat 1. and 2.

    • Press "Done" if you have connected all AP700s. If you have more to add, press "Set Another AP700" and repeat the steps.

  • Exit app and open phone "Settings > WiFi". Connect to selected Wireless Router (Household/Store). (* Make sure there is a WiFi fan signal at top right corner.) Return to app and press "Done".

  • Wait for around 2 minutes to load data. Additional lamps may require more time.

  • AP700s will appear in "Default Group" list after the setting. If they do not appear on the list, press refresh button ( ) at top right corner to search for the lamps.

Navigation

A Menu

Information List: Login account, Select Lamp, Setting, User Manual, About Kessil, Kessil News, APP Version and Reset APP.

B Refresh Button

Search for AP700 lamps.

C Number of lamps

Indicates numbers of lamps in a group.

D Lamp Status

Indicate lamp modes.

E Group Name

Indicates the group name. Press to rename group. "Default Group" cannot be renamed.

F AP700 WiFi SSID

Indicates unique AP700 WiFi SSID. Tap to move lamp to other groups.

G Find Me Button

Flash light to indicate location.

H Power Button

Turn AP700 on or off .

I AP700 Information Button

Indicates lamp information: WiFi SSID, Firmware Version, Connection date and Delete button.

J Arrow

Shrink or expand group.

K Add Button

Add new group or new AP700.

Control - Manual Mode

1 Color Wheel

Choose color on the wheel.

2 Lock/Unlock Button

Lock : Will switch to selected program after 2 minutes. Unlock : Full manual control, will not revert to program mode.

3 Saved Color Button

Select color from saved colors.

4 Red & Green Bars

Slide the bars or press "+" and "-" to slightly adjust the R/G values.

5 Set Intensity

Slide the bar or press "+" and "-" to slightly adjust the intensity.

6 Save Button

Save your combination of Color & Intensity. Combinations can be used in program mode.

Control - Effect Mode

Demonstrate these effects: Storm, Cloud, Aurora, Rainbow, Moonlight Blue and Moonlight Red.

Control - Program Mode

1 Program Name

Indicates program name.

2 Delete Button

Delete customized programs.

3 Program Graph

Tap to view or edit the program.

4 Highlighted Program

Lamp is running the program if it is highlighted.

5 Add New Program

Select to add up to 5 custom programs.

Edit Program Page

Customizing Program

1 Program Name

Tap to rename.

2 Effect Tab

Tap to edit effect points.

3 Program Point

Tap to select point. The selected point will move to center position.

4 Selected Program Point

Tap the enlarged circle to edit point.

5 Program Point Slide Bar

Slide to select point.

6 Function Buttons

Tap to edit the functions: Set Acclimation, Add Program Point, Add Effect Point, and Set Lunar Cycle. For the program and effect points, maximum 10 points each can be added.

7 Preview Buttons

Tap to preview the program on AP700. It takes 20 seconds to run the program cycle once. It does not show Effect points.

Editing Single Program Point

1 Delete Button

Delete this program point.

2 Back Button

Go back and current setting will be saved.

3 Time

Tap to set time.

4 Color Wheel

Choose color on the wheel.

5 Saved Color Button

Select from saved combinations.

6 Red & Green Bars

Slide the bars or press "+" and "-" to slightly adjust the R/G values.

7 Set Intensity

Slide the bar or press "+" and "-" to slightly adjust the intensity.

Editing Single Effect Point

1 Delete Button

Delete this effect point.

2 Back Button

Go back and current setting will be saved.

3 Time

Tap to set time.

4 Effect Options

There are four effect options: Storm, Cloud, Aurora and Rainbow.

5 Set Duration

Slide the bar or press "+" and "-" to slightly adjust the duration. There are four duration options: 30, 60, 90 and 120 seconds.

Set Acclimation

Acclimation mode allows user to lower the light intensity in order for animals to acclimate to the new lights. This can be used when adding new corals or when using Kessil LED lights for the first time.

"Starting Intensity" means a proportion of the point's intensity, e.g. if you have a point at 80% intensity, under Acclimation & "Starting Intensity" as 50%, that point will be at 40% on Day 1, and ramp up gradually to reach 80%.

1 Back Button

Go back and current setting will be saved.

2 On / Off Button

Turn on or turn off Acclimation function.

3 Period

Tap to set Acclimation period.

4 Starting Intensity

Tap to set starting intensity.

Set Lunar Cycle

Lunar Cycle decreases/increases intensity settings and stimulates moonset/moonrise and moonlights by setting very low intensities at night.

1 Back Button

Go back and current setting will be saved.

2 On / Off Button

Turn on to set time.

3 Dusk Time

Tap to set dusk time.

4 Dawn Time

Tap to set dawn time.

5 Starting Phase Buttons

Tap to set starting phase: New Moon, First Quarter, Third Quarter, and Full Moon.

6 Color

Tap to set color: Blue and Red.

Settings

1 Backup to Cloud

Saved current settings to preserved account. Device needs to be connected to the internet.

2 Restored from Cloud

Download saved settings to current device. Device needs to be connected to the internet.

3 Switch to Program

Set auto-switch period.

Settings - Backup to Cloud

1 Backup Program Button

Backup only current programs.

2 Backup Full Data Button

Backup full data, including saved colors, programs and groups, to preserved account.

3 Automatically Backup Switch

Tap to turn on automatic sync option. Can select full data sync or programs only sync and time period between syncing.

Settings - Restore Cloud

1 Backup Program Button

Restore only current programs.

2 Backup Full Data Button

Restore full data, including saved colors, programs and groups, to current device.

FAQ

The phonecannot connect to AP700 WiFi SSID/Cannot find AP700 WiFi SSID under WiFi network selection

  • Make sure the AP700 WiFi Indicator is flashing (Press and simultaneously to turn on WiFi).

  • If AP700 WiFi SSID is still not found, unplug and re-plug power supply and turn on WiFi.



Lamp information is missing after setting up WiFi

  • Press "Refresh List ( )" at top right corner.

  • Make sure the AP700's WiFi Indicator light is solid blue.

  • If information is still missing, repeat WiFi set up.



App crashes during connection

  • Make sure you connect to the right network.

  • Reset the app.



One or more lamp(s) is missing

  • Make sure you connect to the correct AP700 WiFi SSID/wireless router.

  • Press "Refresh List ( )" at top right corner.



How to delete connections with the AP700

  • Slide left on individual lamps on the lamp list and tap "Delete" , or tap lamp information. You can find the delete button there.

  • Press and simultaneously to disconnect AP700, the WiFi Indicator will flash.

  • Wait 10~20 sec, go back to the app and press refresh button ( ) in the top right corner.



How to assign lamps different groups

  • Tap the "" symbol on top right corner and add GROUP.

  • Select desired lamp(s) to be assigned to GROUP.

  • Tap GROUP name to rename group.



Electric Power shut down

  • Make sure the AP700 is solidly connected to the AC outlet.

  • Make sure you connect to the correct AP700 WiFi SSID/wireless router, then press "Refresh List ( )".



The App and the lamp(s) is not synchronizing under Program Mode

  • Make sure your device's clock is correct.

  • Make sure the lamp(s) is in the same group and the correct program is chosen.

  • Go back to main page and then refresh.



Cannot SAVE Program Mode Template

  • You can only SAVE a new program when performing "Create New Program" and edit only from the templates.



"Backup to Cloud" or "Restore from Cloud" function does not work

  • Make sure you are logged in to FB, Google or Twitter account.

  • Make sure device is connected to the internet and not the AP700 unit when connecting direct.



No connection to AP700 unit through direct connection

  • Refresh WiFi connections on device and re-connect to AP700 WiFi SSID.

  • Ensure device is connected to AP700 Wifi SSID and not router. Some Android devices automatically connect to a WiFi with internet connection.
